I Figured out What I Wanted to Do in Life That Would Make Me Happy

When my parents moved to a small town, they knew they would have no trouble in life because my dad was a plant foreman and did an excellent job at it. The biggest company in town was a food plant and they had hired him to work there. Dad was really into his work, and he loved what he did for a living. He would come home at night and talk about the velocity transducer that he had used that day or some other sort of equipment that seemed so worldly to me. Mom would beam at him because she was happy when he was happy. I have a good family, and life at home has always been great.

When I grew older, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do in life. I had worked at the plant some when I got right out of high school. I worked in their main office upstairs. But I really wanted to become a teacher. So, I stayed there working in the office after I graduated, but my plan was to also go to college. Mom let me borrow her car every day, and I would go to the plant to work during the day, and then I would drive to the community college in the next town over in order to take night classes. It was there that I got my associate degree. Soon after, I applied to a university in our state and that is where I got my teaching degree.

Good teachers are badly needed in our little town. So, after graduation, I decided to come home to each in the elementary school. I have been doing it for 7 years now, and I adore it. I love my students and I love all of their families. I gives me great joy to help these kids get a good start in life. I will be here until I retire.
